Letter to Voters

Letter to Voters:

Thank you for your support in the recent primary election.  I appreciate and welcome the endorsement of one of the other candidates in the primary election -- Cindy England! Together we carried 58% of the vote.  Cindy has endorsed me for the final election on November 6th.  She has been a great help with the campaign.

I have been involved in education for twenty five years as both a teacher and administrator.  My experience in these core positions has provided me with the knowledge, skills, and insight necessary to be an effective leader on the School Board.  I have dedicated my entire professional life to helping provide the best education for all our children, particularly at risk youth.
I ran for the School Board four years ago, and I am running now for the same reason, to give our children the best possible education.  I am running to provide the best educational environment for my children as well; Haylee, attending Albion Middle School; and Harrison, attending Brighton High School.
While I have definite concerns about the District Administration, discord on the School Board, and outsiders influencing the Board, this election is about our children.  I feel some of the decisions of the District Administration and School Board were made too fast without input from parents and educators.
The opinions of our parents and teachers are to be listened to and respected.  Our students, parents, and employees are to be treated in a professional manner.  I will work cooperatively to restore an environment of trust and respect.
In my career, I have worked closely with school boards, superintendents, parents and students.  I have had years of experience with school budgets, curriculum, hiring employees, and dealing with students and parents on a wide variety of issues.  These skills are vital for a position on the School Board.
Those who have endorsed me feel that I am very qualified and have the experience necessary to be a strong Board Member.  I have admired the service that  our retiring board member, Kevin Cromar, has given to our community these past four years on the school board, most notably getting intramural sports in the middle schools and the beautiful Albion Middle School renovation.  Kevin has endorsed my election.
I will bring a strong independent voice to the School Board.  I am not entangled or beholden to the current power structure in the Canyons School District.  It is important to elect someone who can be independent enough to tell  the district administration, mayors, legislators, and others no, when an issue is not in the best interest of students.  Your voice needs to be the one represented on the School Board.

Thank your for your trust and support.

Clay Pearce
